The New Home of Cooper's Retail Blog

No, I don't deserve your continued patronage for the neglect I've been guilty of, but if you can just indulge me by visiting Norm Feuti's new social networking site, all will become clear.

Changes Coming

Hey Gang,

I know I've been neglectful of the blog as of late, but there are big changes coming soon.  I'll be taking the site up a few notches (all the way to 11) in the very near future, so stay tuned.

Thanks for your patience, everyone.

The End of Circuit City

According to The Associated Press:

"Circuit City Stores Inc., the nation's second-biggest consumer electronics retailer, reached an agreement with liquidators on Friday to sell the merchandise in its 567 U.S. stores after failing to find a buyer or a refinancing deal.

The company, which employs more than 30,000 employees, said in court papers it has appointed Great American Group LLC, Hudson Capital Partners LLC, SB Capital Group LLC and Tiger Capital Group LLC as liquidators."

The rest of the article HERE.

A sincere good luck to the soon to be former Circuit City employees. You all got dealt a crappy hand from your corporate office.  I hope you find employment soon.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have my own job security to worry about :(

Economic Reality

Happy (belated) New Year, everyone!

Ug, now that January has firmly taken hold, reality has set into the Grumbel's home office and they're talking about some deep payroll cuts ... and I mean deep.  There's talk of some of us "part -timers" losing our jobs even.  Not a good time to have to look for work.

Oh well, I've probably got nothing to worry about.

...right?

X-Mas Crap

Okay, enough of the depressing stuff.  Let's get back to the regular rant.

Behold the latest object of my unbridled rage.

Yeah, and to make it even more terrifying it sings a single refrain of "We Wish you a Merry Christmas" over and over again in a somber monotone voice not entirely unlike Eeyore from the Winnie the Pooh movies.

Seriously, who designs these freakin' things?
